Through accessible studentship into working life
Finnish higher education institutes have come to understand that to prevent social exclusion, early intervention in student recruiting, admission and counselling is needed. Support for the learning process and flexible study arrangements are often needed. There is also demand for psychological help with studies because of the increased numbers of learning disorders and dyslexia.
Being able to study in accessible environment supports employees' life-long learning and development at work. The practices developed in this project will serve trainers, students, employers and employees, and the guidelines can also be applied on a wider scale to various social contexts.
Project aim
The aim of the project is to support the well-being of students and produce an accessibility guidelines program for higher education institutions. The program will include actions and tasks concerning physical, social, cultural and linguistic accessibility. Another aim of the project is to support work communities' accessibility surveys and actions to implement accessibility.
Projects website will contain information about the project, the progress and the results. The project also collaborates with ESOK, the national accessibility project for Finnish higher-education institutions.
The project is funded by ESF and will last till the end of 2009.
